Arena: Wrestlemania 32

Fireworks go off as ring commentators Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton welcome everyone in to Wrestlemania 32! They reveal that Triple H has created the match card for tonight, as he is the newly appointed commissioner of both Raw and Smackdown Live by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Graves and Saxton argue about whether or not Triple H’s prodigy, Kevin Owens, deserves the WWE Championship match he has in tonight’s main event against WWE Champion John Cena.

A limousine arrives backstage. The driver opens the door as Shane McMahon exits. He looks around and walks off as all three ring commentators are shocked he has returned.

NORMAL TAG TEAM MATCH – WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

(C) Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

Objective: Win with Anderson & Gallows

Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon are backstage watching the show. They are both very happy with the result of the Smackdown Tag Team Championship match. Shane McMahon walks into the scene, and congratulates Triple H for putting together a terrific show. Triple H and Stephanie are both shocked to see Shane back. Shane begins to immediately question any alternative motives Triple H may have by handing Kevin Owens a championship match tonight. Triple H, still confused by Shane’s arrival, says that Owens is a main event talent deserving of the spotlight. Shane suggests Triple H only put Owens in the match because Owens does whatever Triple H wants. Stephanie steps in for her husband, saying that he is in charge of both shows while Shane has been away for years. Shane confesses that although he has been away for some time, he hasn’t missed an episode of Raw, Smackdown or even Triple H’s ‘brain child’ show NXT. Shane tells his brother-in-law and sister that he’s not just back for tonight’s Wrestlemania – but he is back to STAY! A large ‘Yes!’ chant breaks out from the WWE Universe. Shane walks off as Triple H and Stephanie share a look of distaste towards one another.

NORMAL SINGLES MATCH – Intercontinental Championship

(C) The Miz (with Maryse, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) vs. Randy Orton

Objective: Win with Randy Orton

Triple H is talking to Kevin Owens in his locker room. Triple H says that tonight is the night WWE turns to the future, out with the old and in with the new. Stephanie walks in and informs Hunter that The Miz just lost his Intercontinental Championship to Orton. Triple H claims he isn’t worried, because he and Orton have history and a strong bond – one that’s stronger than the bond Miz shares with his own ‘entourage’. Stephanie leaves as Triple H asks Owens if he is ready? He reveals to Kevin that he has brought in an extra hand to help Owens win tonight. Owens is adamant that he doesn’t need the help, but Triple H says he is not taking any chances on the future of the WWE. Triple H tells Kevin he is finally in a position to change the landscape of the WWE the way Hunter sees fit, which includes a champion not named John Cena. Owens finally accepts Triple H’s offer for help.

FATAL-4-WAY MATCH – Raw Women’s Championship

(C) Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks

NORMAL TAG TEAM MATCH – Raw Tag Team Championship

(C) The New Day (Big E., Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso)

Objective: Win with The New Day

Backstage interviewer Renee Young talks with new Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Alexa brags about being the greatest women’s champion of all-time, and proved how worthy she is by beating three of the best women today. She says she will be on the cover of magazines, buses and billboards – but is interrupted by Shane McMahon. Shane congratulates Alexa, then asks if she was offered anything for winning tonight? Alexa is silent, in shock of Shane’s presence. Shane tells Alexa she’s not in trouble, but he’s just trying to figure out who may be in his sister and brother-in-law’s pocket. Alexa says that just because she can fit into somebody’s pocket, doesn’t mean she’s in anyone’s. Shane apologizes and thanks Alexa for her time. He leaves as Renee asks to do a quick interview with Shane. Shane says he doesn’t have time, but will address everyone on his status very soon. Shane leaves.

6-MAN LADDER MATCH – Cruiserweight Championship

(C) Neville vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Rich Swann vs. Noam Dar vs. Gran Metalik

Wyatt claims the devil has handed him the tools to defeat his opponent tonight, who’s revealed to be none other than The Undertaker. Wyatt claims that the devil has promised him eternal happiness, if he can slay the Deadman. Wyatt warns the Deadman that he should… RUN!

SUBMISSION MATCH – Smackdown Women’s Championship

(C) Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair

Objective: Win with Natalya

Natalya doesn’t release her Sharpshooter for almost five minutes after the bell, despite multiple refs pleading for her to let go. Shane McMahon finally runs down, which shocks and prompts Natalya to finally break her hold – leaving the ring. Shane stares at Natalya in disgust as Natalya walks away smiling. Charlotte rolls on the mat in absolute pain as doctors have to bring a cart out to take her to the backstage area. Charlotte also has a look of surprise upon seeing Shane in the ring.

NORMAL MATCH – United States Championship

(C) A.J. Styles vs. Samoa Joe

Objective: Win with Samoa Joe

Charlotte is in the backstage training room. Doctors reveal that she may have torn multiple ligaments in her knee, and a possible stress fracture in her lower back. Triple H walks in and asks the doctors how Charlotte is doing? Triple H says he will make Natalya pay for what she did to her, saying that he respected Charlotte’s father more than anyone else. Charlotte thanks Hunter, but says the only justice is when she wins the Smackdown Women’s Championship off of Natalya. Triple H says he can’t do that until she’s medically cleared to perform again. Before the doctor can give a recommendation, Triple H walks out.

Bray Wyatt (with Braun Strowman, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan) vs. The Undertaker

Objective: Win with Bray Wyatt

After the match, The Wyatt Family destroys The Undertaker, who can barely move as it is. They send him through all the announcer tables at ring side. They then grab the steel steps and place Undertakers skull in between them. Suddenly, fire shoots out from the ring post as Undertaker’s brother Kane comes to the ring. Harper & Rowan fight Kane while Strowman & Bray carry The Undertaker backstage through the crowd. Kane runs through Harper & Rowan with Chokeslams, but his brother is long gone.

Paul Heyman enters Triple H’s office. Heyman says, like Shane, he thinks Triple H has motives with the match card tonight – otherwise he would never put his client and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in a match against all three Shield members! Heyman also voices his concerns that a pinfall or submission could occur anywhere in the arena. Triple H says that his client’s match is the most talked about match in Wrestlemania history, and strictly a business decision. Heyman claims that he and Hunter are the same person, and knows he is lying. Heyman says he won’t question Triple H’s authority unless it directly effects his client Brock Lesnar. Heyman straight up asks Hunter if he wants Lesnar to win tonight? Triple H replies that he only wants an A+ match for the fans.

(C) Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns

Objective: Win with Seth Rollins

John Cena is being interviewed backstage by Renee Young. He says that his opponent Kevin Owens doesn’t respect the WWE Universe, but is without a doubt the future of this company. So Cena says win or lose, he has one thing on his mind tonight – and that’s pushing Kevin Owens further than he’s ever been. Cena references the match Seth Rollins just won, someone Cena respects to lead the future of this company. Cena says that hopefully Owens will learn to lead the next generation with respect. Triple H approaches John and wishes him luck, saying he’ll need it. Hunter reveals to John that Kevin Owens will have an escort lead him to the ring for his match. Hunter walks away smiling, as a look of uncertainty comes across Cena’s face.

NORMAL MATCH – WWE Championship

(C) John Cena vs. Kevin Owens (with Big Boss Man ’99)

Objective: Win with John Cena

Big Boss Man accompanies Kevin Owens to everyone’s shock. Michael Cole questions how Boss Man is even there, since he’s been deceased for many years. Graves claims that Boss Man probably faked his own death to avoid publicity, but Saxton and Cole aren’t buying it. Boss Man tries to interfere in the match, but Cena overcomes the odds and retains his belt. Triple H comes out on stage after and congratulates John on retaining his belt. Triple H admits John may be the most popular superstar ever, but even John Cena himself doesn’t know everything about this company’s history. He tells John he needs him to lose his belt, and he needs him to lose it now. Hunter then apologizes as suddenly Dolph Ziggler comes from behind and hits a Zig Zag onto Cena! Dolph immediately cashes in his Money in the Bank contract (revealing he was the most recent winner of the briefcase).

NORMAL MATCH – WWE Championship (turn entrance OFF)

(C) John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler

Objective: Win with Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler wins the WWE Championship. Triple H comes down to the ring and tells Cena he is old news and the company’s new direction is forward and upward. Triple H says Dolph is the perfect candidate to cross the old generation over with the new, before hitting Cena with a Pedigree. Triple H raises Ziggler’s arm in celebration, as Owens and Big Boss Man come to consciousness.

Arena: Raw

Cole, Graves & Saxton welcome everyone in to Monday Night Raw as Triple H makes his way to the ring. He says Wrestlemania was a huge success, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the main event. Triple H reveals that John losing the WWE Championship was best for the future of the business, and that’s why he admits to distracting John so that Dolph Ziggler could cash in his contract and win. Triple H explains that Dolph hit a point in his career where he became a true veteran – because true veterans realize they put the business before the fans. When Hunter went to Dolph about a possible plan to dethrone John, Ziggler immediately accepted. Triple H claims that’s when he realized Dolph was ready to sacrifice everything to serve his king. Triple H congratulates Dolph on the best career decision of his life and welcomes out the WWE Champion Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler comes out nonchalantly and tells everyone he is done trying to be their friends. He doesn’t give a damn about anything anymore, which includes the belt he currently has. Dolph says he will gladly play the ‘puppet’ to his ‘master’, even if it means he can hold the WWE Championship around guys who want it more than he does. Ziggler says others may want the WWE Championship more than he does, but there’s nothing anyone can do because he’s the best in that ring. Kevin Owens comes out and yells that he deserves to be the champion because unlike Dolph, he actually gives a damn. Hunter reminds Owens that he lost his opportunity when he lost to John last night. John Cena comes on to the stage and interrupts, saying that they should address the elephant in the room and talk about how a supposedly deceased individual accompanied Kevin Owens to the ring? Big Boss Man comes out of nowhere and attacks Cena. The two brawl all the way into the ring, so Triple H suggests they get a referee for a 1-on-3 Handicap Match.

1-ON-3 HANDICAP MATCH (turn entrance OFF)

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens, Big Boss Man & WWE Champion Dolph Ziggler

Objective: Win the match with Dolph Ziggler

Stephanie is backstage talking to a reporter. She reveals to the reporter that she wants an article up and running on how there will no longer be a roster split for both Raw and Smackdown Live brands. The reporter runs off as Stephanie is then approached by Bayley. Bayley offers a hug, but Stephanie turns it down – asking what she wants? Bayley says she wants her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship. Bayley reminds Stephanie it’s in her contract, as is everyone who lost their belts at Wrestlemania. Stephanie tells Bayley she can have her rematch against Alexa Bliss at the next pay-per-view event Payback. She suggests Bayley stop giving out hugs and go get ready for her No Holds Barred Match tonight against Nia Jax. Bayley says she already looked at the match card, and didn’t see it on there. Stephanie tells her that’s because she just made the match now. Bayley leaves a bit confused and hurt, as Stephanie sneers.

United States Champion Samoa Joe vs. Apollo Crews (with Titus O’Neil)

Objective: Win with Samoa Joe

Before the match, Titus tells everyone that Titus World Wide is looking to expand. He asks for anyone interested to send him a ‘DM’ on social media. After the match, AJ Styles comes out onto the stage. He tells Joe he just informed Triple H that he will be invoking his rematch clause for the United States Championship at Payback. Joe tells Styles that he took the belt away from him at the grandest stage of them all, and that Payback will be no different. Joe claims that it will be an honor to post AJ Styles’ name as his first title defense victim.

Bayley vs. Nia Jax

Objective: Win with Bayley

Backstage, Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton is talking with a WWE official when Triple H approaches. He congratulates Orton on winning the Intercontinental Championship, and asks Randy if he understands what that means? Orton says he’s been a champion before and knows the publicity and extra hours he has to work. Orton says he will be much more involved with charity events, claiming that having kids has changed his outlook on life. Triple H laughs and says that wasn’t what he was talking about. Triple H very seriously tells Orton that he should know exactly what he means. Orton tells Hunter very clearly that he will not be his ‘bitch’, clarifying that he is a changed man since when they were in Evolution together. Triple H tells Orton he accepts his decision, but to expect the consequences.

Raw Tag Team Champion The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman & Luke Harper)

Objective: Win with The New Day

Erick Rowan appears from the dark after the match. He and the Wyatts are about to attack New Day, but the stage goes off in flames. Kane storms the ring as Bray begins to laugh. When Kane reaches Bray the lights go out, then Wyatt appears on the big screen above the entrance. Bray laughs at Kane’s desperation to find his brother. Bray reveals The Undertaker is in good hands, and that it’s a fight the Big Red Machine can’t win. He claims that the power that controls the WWE universe is well beyond Kane’s limits. He warns Kane that he should just accept his brother’s fate… and RUN! The lights come back on as New Day is laid out in the ring. Strowman, Harper and Rowan attack Kane. The Wyatts are about to do to Kane what they tried to do to The Undertaker with steel steps. Bray appears back in the ring after the lights go off and on again. Bray commands them to hold off on hurting Kane further, simply because Bray enjoys this game with Kane. He picks Kane up, kisses him and hits him with a Sister Abigail – the Wyatt’s disappear into the darkness.

Triple H walks into he and his wife’s backstage office just as The Miz with Maryse, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel storm out. Hunter asks Stephanie what Miz and his entourage wanted, as Stephanie reveals he wanted his Intercontinental Championship rematch. She tells Hunter she scheduled it for tomorrow’s Smackdown Live, but Triple H says they can’t trust The Miz. Stephanie reminds him that a rematch clause was in his contract. Triple H suggests they start on a different plan regarding the Intercontinental Championship, because Orton isn’t budging while The Miz is more selfish and cunning than both himself and Stephanie combined.

Universal Champion Seth Rollins is in his locker room getting equipped as John Cena enters. Cena tells Seth that something fishy is going on ever since Triple H took over for both shows, and Seth needs to be careful now that he has the Universal Championship. Seth scolds John for talking to him like he’s a child, and that he and Triple H are practically family after their stint in The Authority. Seth tells John he is paranoid because he lost his championship and that the young bucks around here are finally stepping up. John says that he has known Triple H longer than Seth has, and that John has never put himself ahead of the company or the fans like Triple H has made a career doing. John asks Seth if he can trust him? – to which Seth replies that he wouldn’t trust himself, before leaving for his match.

Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns vs. A.J. Styles & Universal Champion Seth Rollins

Objective: Win with Styles & Rollins

Samoa Joe attacks AJ Styles immediately after the match. All three former Shield members look at each other before deciding to help out Styles. Suddenly, Brock Lesnar’s music hits as the beast storms out with Paul Heyman strutting by his side. Lesnar hits the ring and suplexes everyone including Samoa Joe! He then F5‘s Seth Rollins and picks up the belt claiming it’s his. Heyman grabs the microphone, does his usual introduction – and then announces that Brock Lesnar will invoke his rematch clause at Payback. Ambrose and Reigns are able to make their feet as Lesnar F5’s them both along with Styles before leaving in a furious rage.

Arena: Smackdown Live

John Cena heads to the ring to begin the show, microphone in hand. Cena says that he doesn’t know what Triple H is doing behind the scenes, but someone has some explaining to do about Big Boss Man being around. Dolph Ziggler’s music hits as the WWE Champion comes out with a disgruntled and uninterested look. Dolph tells John to shut up, because no one gives a damn why Boss Man is back. Dolph says people should care about their new WWE Champion. Ziggler says that no one ever respected what he did in that ring, and so now he’s taking the easy road to fame. He says that no matter how much John cares about the fans, the business or his career – Dolph is ten times better. Dolph claims that he is THE show off, and there’s no better way to show off than by being successful without caring or trying. Dolph says he is using blatant disrespect to rub into the faces of the WWE Universe and to people like Cena. Dolph proclaims it is one of the greatest joys he’s felt in this business, to patronize the WWE and hardworking talent backstage. He compares it to wearing a diamond ring on your middle finger, while sticking it right in your enemy’s face. Dolph uses his middle finger to flip off John while explaining the analogy. John says he is disappointed in Dolph. John says Dolph has clearly lost love for the business, all while disrespecting the belt to mock others who have a passion for the business. John admits that Dolph has all the talent in the world, but his head is in the clouds and up Triple H’s ass! John says he will invoke his rematch clause at Payback and bring the belt back to someone who respects what it represents. Dolph looks like he wants to punch John, who is inviting him to do so. Dolph cowers away instead, and leaves with his WWE Championship.

Shane McMahon arrives in a limousine. He is immediately greeted by Triple H who suggests that Shane should leave, but Shane says he was sent. Triple H asks by who, but Stephanie interrupts by telling Shane that her and her husband can handle everything. She once again chastises Shane for his years of absence. Shane says he hasn’t had time to confront the two on why a supposedly deceased wrestler is walking around, because he’s been checking in on Charlotte’s condition the past few days. Shane questions whether or not Stephanie and Hunter even care about their talent’s health, especially top talent like Charlotte. Stephanie changes the subject asking why Shane is here? He reiterates he was sent in and has an announcement to make. Shane leaves as Triple H and Stephanie look nervously at one another.

Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Jack Gallagher

Objective: Win with Neville

Akira Tozawa is watching the cruiserweight match backstage. He is approached by Titus & Apollo. Titus reveals he is trying to break the Titus World Wide Brand into 205 (cruiserweight division), and asks to represent Tozawa. Titus snaps at Apollo to hand Tozawa a stack of papers he is holding. Titus says he already has the contract ready to sign, but Tozawa is confused and says he has to focus on the cruiserweight championship before he can sign a contract with O’Neil. Tozawa walks off to a speechless Titus, who throws the papers at Apollo in rage.

Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya comes to the ring to celebrate her win. Natalya says not only did she win, but she put to rest the overrated Charlotte Flair by breaking her knee and spine. Natalya says she doesn’t regret her actions, because she received a hefty pay increase for her performance. She wants to declare herself an international icon for women athletes, and proclaim the belt to herself forever. Shane McMahon’s music hits as the crowd erupts. Shane comes out to a huge ovation, taking the microphone from Natalya. Shane greets the crowd, then says he has huge news. He says after some interesting recent weeks within the WWE, he has been sent in by the Board of Directors to investigate certain issues looming within the company. While he is there, he has the same power both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have. He proves this with a contract from the Board of Directors. He tells Natalya that he spent hours with Charlotte in the ER and that she’ll recover fine, however he is not pleased that Natalya tried to permanently damage a great talent like Charlotte. Shane, as punishment, will have Natalya defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship tonight! A loud ‘Yes!’ chant breaks out in the arena as Natalya grabs the microphone, begging Shane to reconsider. She says she didn’t have a choice to hurt Charlotte. Shane asks Natalya what she means, but Triple H interrupts and comes onto the stage. He laughs at Shane’s reasoning for being here – saying the WWE is better than ever and the Board of Directors are just all dinosaur-like thinkers. Triple H tells Natalya she performed well and should have the night off. Shane reiterates his reason for being here and that he has direct power from the Board of Directors. He tells Natalya to get ready for her match tonight. Natalya leaves angry, and gives Triple H dagger eyes as she passes him on the entrance ramp. Triple H stares down Shane, as he is clearly pissed off at Shane’s presence and actions.

Smackdown Tag Team Champion Gallows & Anderson vs. The Hype Bros (Mojo Rawley & Zack Ryder)

Objective: Win with Gallows & Anderson

Heath Slater and Rhyno come out on the stage after the match. Slater says that he just spoke with Shane, and that they will get their rematch for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships on Smackdown Live next week! Gallows & Anderson are not happy, so they hit a Magic Killer on the Hype Bros before staring down their soon to be opponents.

Triple H is freaking out in his office as Stephanie tries to calm him down. Kevin Owens enters with Big Boss Man and asks why this idiot keeps following him around? Triple H says that it was a mistake to have Big Boss Man accompany Kevin. Owens agrees, saying Boss Man is the reason he lost at Wrestlemania. Shane enters the office and asks what’s going on? Owens tells Shane that Triple H was just considering his WWE Championship rematch. Shane tells Kevin he won’t get that opportunity yet, and wants to know what Big Boss Man is doing around? Triple H tells Shane that Kevin and Big Boss Man were just leaving, as they both leave on cue. Shane tells Hunter that the only reason he is here after years away, is because the Board of Directors knows he is up to something. He suggests Triple H come clean, but Hunter says he is only doing what’s best for business. Triple H calls the Board of Directors dinosaurs, claiming they are just nervous about the new approach he wants to take the company. Shane says that some may consider Triple H’s direction dangerous and asks about Boss Man once again. Triple H tells Shane that he seems to be running the show pretty well by handing out championship matches. He takes Stephanie’s hand as the two leave, basically giving Shane control of the show for the night. Shane watches with distrust.

NORMAL MATCH – Intercontinental Championship

(C) Randy Orton vs. The Miz (with Maryse, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas)

Objective: Win with Randy Orton

The Miztourage immediately jumps Orton after the match. They beat Orton senseless with a chair. The Miz busts Orton’s skull open causing him to bleed. He then rubs Orton’s bloody face onto the championship belt. Miz leaves very angry not even acknowledging Maryse, knowing that could be his last chance for the Intercontinental Championship.

NORMAL MATCH – Smackdown Women’s Championship

(C) Natalya vs. Naomi

Objective: Win with Naomi by count out

Natalya gets herself counted out, losing the match but keeping the championship belt. Natalya smiles exiting up the entrance ramp. Charlotte Flair, on crutches, makes her way down the ramp. Natalya turns around and sees Charlotte, stunned. Charlotte goes to swing her crutch, but Natalya gets her first. Natalya starts beating Charlotte’s knee with a crutch until Naomi runs her off. Naomi, Shane McMahon and medical staff check on Charlotte who rolls around in pain. Shane tells Charlotte she can’t return until she is 100% medically cleared.

Arena: Raw

Shane McMahon heads down to the ring to start the show, revealing that Triple H and Stephanie are not there yet. Shane says he hasn’t seen Kevin Owens, WWE Champion Dolph Ziggler or Big Boss Man either – which leads him to firmly believe they are all working together. Shane wants to know why they are working together, believing that there is a hidden agenda that they are all working to accomplish. Fire shoots out from the ring posts as Kane makes his way to the ring. Kane assures Shane his war is not with him, but with the Wyatt Family instead. He wants to know why the Wyatts targeted his brother, and believes he can beat the answer out of Bray. Kane asks Shane to give him Bray Wyatt at Payback, which Shane does. Shane tells Kane that he has a lot of anger brewing inside of him, so he can grab a partner and take on two members of The Wyatt Family tonight.

Dean Ambrose is doing an interview backstage with Renee Young, when he spots Paul Heyman sneering in the corner. Ambrose asks if he can help Paul, as Lesnar blindsides Ambrose. He puts Ambrose through the TV monitor and F5’s him onto the floor. Heyman says that Lesnar will begin to target all The Shield members for their involvement in his Universal Championship loss at Wrestlemania.

Akira Tozawa vs. Noam Dar (with Alicia Fox)

Objective: Win with Akira Tozawa

After the match, Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews come down to celebrate with Tozawa in the ring. They have Titus World Wide shirts, hats and other stuff they give to Tozawa as they continue to try and get him to join their brand. Tozawa still continues to act confused by their tactics.

A limo arrives backstage. Triple H exits with his wife Stephanie McMahon. They are immediately approached by AJ Styles, who says he can’t find Shane and wants Samoa Joe tonight. Triple H refuses, but then Stephanie says it is a good idea they fight tonight. AJ walks off as Stephanie reminds Triple H that sometimes they need to play ball in order to keep people off their backs. Stephanie reminds her husband that her father did not choose him because of his carelessness. Triple H walks off a bit annoyed.

Raw Tag Team Champion The New Day vs. Primo & Epico Colon

Objective: Win with The New Day

Immediately following the match, both Kevin Owens and Big Boss Man begin to brutally assault The New Day. The Colons begin beating down Big E. outside the ring, while Owens Powerbombs Xavier Woods onto the steel stairs. Big Boss Man drills Kofi with his nightstick as Owens grabs a microphone. Owens, clearly annoyed, reveals that he has been ordered by Triple H to prove himself championship-worthy by destroying The New Day and taking their Raw Tag Team Championship. Owens says a championship match at Payback between The New Day and Kevin Owens & Big Boss Man is confirmed. Owens hits a Popup Powerbomb onto Kofi before leaving frustrated.

In their backstage office, Triple H and Stephanie are with The Miz and his wife Maryse. Miz claims that Orton has been lucky and that Dallas & Axel give him the numbers advantage. Miz says he is not there to ask for another Intercontinental Championship Match because they should already know he deserves it. Triple H tells Miz he and his entourage could be useful despite his recent fails. He tells Miz that Orton showed a lack of respect a week ago, so he wants The Miz and his entourage to take Orton out at Payback in a 1-on-3 Handicap Match. If Miz wins he will get another shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Miz thanks Hunter as he and his wife leave satisfied.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss & Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks & Bayley

Objective: Win with Banks & Bayley

Shane McMahon finds The New Day backstage icing their wounds. Shane apologizes for the attack his brother-in-law seemingly set up against them. The New Day say they know that when you’re the champion a target is on your back, but things are becoming dangerous. Shane says he is in the middle of a thorough investigation and will figure out exactly why Triple H & Stephanie are head hunting certain superstars. New Day say they have a theory, but no one would ever believe them. WWE Champion Dolph Ziggler walks by and says they are all pathetic. Ziggler claims that no one cares why Shane is wasting his time and effort with a pointless investigation. Dolph feels disrespected that everyone believes there is something else at play with Triple H making him champion, and not the fact that Hunter believes Dolph is just that damn good. The New Day joke that no one thinks Dolph is as good as he thinks he is, so Dolph challenges the New Day to a match on Smackdown Live.

The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper with Erick Rowan) vs. Kane & John Cena

Objective: Win with Kane and John Cena

Ziggler hits the ring after the match and nails a mean Superkick onto John. He escapes the ring before Kane can get to him. The lights go out and turn back on as Braun Strowman is now in the ring. The Wyatt’s beat Kane down, along with Ziggler getting back into the ring to beat up John Cena. The New Day eventually run out and make the save as The Wyatts and Ziggler retreat. Shane comes out onto the stage and says that Ziggler will team with The Wyatts on Smackdown to face Cena and The New Day!

Triple H and Stephanie discuss their dilemma with Big Boss Man. Stephanie is worried that people will find out how and why Boss Man is around. Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss walks in, revealing they wanted to see her. Stephanie admits displeasure in Alexa’s defeat tonight, and reminds her she can’t fail at Payback. Alexa says they came to the right woman for a reason, and that she will prove to them that they made the right decision in picking her to represent the Raw Women’s Championship.

United States Champion Samoa Joe vs. A.J. Styles

Objective: Win with A.J. Styles

Styles picks up a microphone after the match and says that he and Joe are now even at 1-1. Styles says their recent rivalry feels like a playoff series, and that both men have proven just how good they are. Styles thinks that they could go back-and-forth forever fighting, so he suggests that their United States Championship match at Payback be a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match! Styles drops the microphone and celebrates to the crowd.

Roman Reigns is backstage checking on Dean Ambrose in the trainer’s room. Heyman walks in as Roman threatens him to leave. Heyman says he’s just an advocate and that Roman should listen to what his client Brock Lesnar has to say. Heyman tells Roman that Lesnar won’t stop until the Shield is destroyed or that he has the Universal Championship. Heyman asks where Seth Rollins is? Roman says right behind you as Seth jumps Paul Heyman. The Shield do their Triple Powerbomb onto Heyman as he crashes through the trainer’s table! An unconscious Heyman lays on the floor while the former Shield members bump fists.

Arena: Smackdown Live

NORMAL TAG TEAM MATCH – Smackdown Tag Team Championship

(C) Gallows & Anderson vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno

Objective: Win with Gallows & Anderson

Rollins laughs and says Heyman had it coming when Lesnar decided to threaten all of them. Stephanie says Heyman is not an active superstar under contract, and their actions made the company liable. Stephanie questions whether Seth is smart enough to represent the WWE as their Universal Champion. Roman steps in and takes blame for what happened, so Stephanie says he can face Brock Lesnar on Raw next week for his terrible leadership decision. Stephanie wonders how Roman will ever be champion if his leadership is questionable to herself and her husband. Ambrose tells Stephanie that if anyone’s leadership should be in question, it should be her and Triple H’s. Stephanie smirks, then tells Dean Ambrose that he has a match next and that The Shield is banned from ringside.

Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz (with Maryse, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas)

Objective: Win with Dean Ambrose

The Miz’s losing streak continues. He frustratingly attacks Dean along with the Miztourage. Randy Orton comes in out of nowhere and RKO‘s both Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Maryse pulls her husband out of the ring as the Viper calls for Miz to come fight him. Orton is still stitched up from when The Miz busted his skull open a week ago.
